Anyone familiar with how the suspensions will affect pre-season lineups?
i.e. when Weise and Kassian are suspended for last night, do the games start counting right away or would it wait til regular season? |

Depends on the situation, I believe. For example, Kessel will probably be suspended a preseason game or two for his stick chops. Clarkson, however, will miss the first 10 games of the regular season. |

Again good gdt.
Is this the same as Biznasty? Sounds like Zach is getting 5 games as his hearing is in person.
Hopefully the Nux win tonight. |

Seems to me that suspensions should only count against regular season - there is little deterrent if not. |

An in-person only means that they can suspend 5 games or more I think - doesn't mean it is for sure. |

Apparently playoff games "count" as 2, so perhaps pre-season counts as 1/2... |

He'll sit out the rest of the preseason before he starts what ever suspension they hand him.
Sounds like he's getting a min of 5. |

I don't know that for sure but recall instances were in-person meetings resulted in fewer than 5 |

Looks like Cannata was sent down. Torts has given props to Lack. Im assuming its his job to be the back up. He looks good to me. Hope he gets enough games to further his development somewhat. |

TSn website says Kassian had a phone meeting with the NHL today. Not in person. Maybe they see it as careless but unintentional? Maybe not a huge suspension after all? |

He was offered the opportunity to be there in person I read earlier. He wasnt called to the carpet apparently.
Im thinking the Kessel stick swing may have been good timing for Kassian.

Seems highly unlikely that a 10 minute conversation is going to end in 5 games or more. |

The two teams meet again in Vancouver on Oct. 5 and the Oilers added some more muscle on Monday picking up enforcer Steve MacIntyre off waivers.
"Perfect," Kassian told reporters after being informed of the move. "I don't think he can skate, that's the last thing on our mind."

Would like to see Guance on the wing with Kes and Burrows.
His two goals were "garbage goals" from going to the net.
Since Kesler likes to shoot intead of pass ,i think they would compliment each other nicely. |

I agree...that was stupid and punishable by suspension, regardless of how scared he was. You don't wildly/purposely/intentionally swing your stick at another player like that. |

Good point, but I don't think he's quick enough? |

Thanks fellas.
I'm going to go a little more in-depth on my blog tomorrow. Should be worth a read for those that are unsure of what to expect from Torts this season.
Good GDT, Todd. I agree that Kassian(if playing) needs a good game for sure and Shinkaruk needs to have another solid game to solidfy his chances of being on the opening day roster.
I agree with Booner, that if Schroeder is missing regular season action then Gaunce will be on the team to start the season at least. I bet Gillis is definitely in the market for a center unless Torts is really high on Richardson or Santorelli or maybe even Gaunce. |

Not quick enough to keep up with those 2 on odd man rushes, but we'll have to see if this generates many odd man rushes this season. I would like to see a Gaunce-Kassian line in a pre-season, I think they'd be great at cycling and both could potentially work well with each other. |

Samuelsson was one of the very few who had success on the 2nd line beside Kesler and he couldnt skate worth poop. Come to think about it, which players who can keep up with Keslers skating ability have had success on the 2nd line beside him? Kesler beside Hank and the season before beside Sundin are the seasons everyone bases on Kesler's offensive abilities on and were beside slow skaters. Burrows on the 2nd with Kes has not worked out in the offensive side of their game.... great as a 3rd...
Maybe too much has been put into finding speed to keep up with Kesler. The Booth experiment has been a big fat fail.... Raymond as well.... speed is not everything on that line. Been proven imo.
